Cornell Football Announces Class of 2020

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell Head Football Coach David Archer ’05 and his staff are excited to announce the newest members of the Big Red Football family. The Class of 2020, featuring 32 members (31 incoming freshman, one transfer), joins a Cornell football program building momentum.
Hailing from 20 states, the class of 2020 will attempt to help secure the Big Red’s first Ivy title on the gridiron since 1990. A class-high four recruits will attend Cornell from New York and three hail from Florida, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Connecticut, Michigan and Virginia will send two apiece and 13 other states send one player each. In all, 15 of the players will join the offense, 14 will aid the defense and three will concentrate on special teams.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Big Red brings in four defensive back/safeties, four linebackers and six defensive linemen, including two rush ends. Cornell went for plenty of skill players on the offense, bringing in three wide receivers, a running back, two quarterbacks and three tight ends. The offensive line will also be bolstered with the addition of six offensive linemen who average 6-5 and 273 pounds.

Cornell will put the Class of 2020 to the test when fall practice begins in mid-August. The Big Red opens the 2016 season at Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 17 in Lewisburg, Pa.
